Alessandro Rocchi

The idea of digital photography has always captured my attention. Digital cameras are easily accessible and easy enough for a two year old to use (all you have to do is click a button). With a digital camera, you are able to capture a moment in either your history or the world's history, and then you are able to instantly view the picture. Digital cameras take away the long process of either spending an hour or so in a red room or paying Walgreen to develop your pictures. All though digital photography is a very amateur and sometimes juvenile way of photography, photographers like Alessandro Rocchi expand the idea of digital photography on a wider spectrum through eye catching photojournalism. Alessandro Rocchi work is important because his photography does more than just capture a single moment, but instead he captures countless moments and tells a story through the photos.

Alessandro Rocchi is an Italian photographer based in Pesaro (on Adriatic sea) near Rimini and Ancona. Rocchi produce the majority of his photography in the 21st century until today. He does commercial work as well as ‘art’. Rocchi is also noted for capturing photojournalism which is a particular form of journalism (the collecting, editing, and presenting of news material for publication or broadcast) that creates images in order to tell a news story. One of Pesaro's most recognized work of photojournalism is his BAKU FIA GT 2013 photo series. Rocchi's photojournalism series captures the moment of car racing event. He uses different angles, perspectives, zooms, and views to the show what is happening at the event. What is most interesting about the photojournalism series of Rocchi is that he does not need words to tell the story of what is happening at the event. All the photos suggest what is happening.

Another interesting photo series from Rocchi is his digital photography titled, "Auch!!" These 7 photos are all up close pictures of individual men and women. Each of the men and women have a naturalistic manner to them. Each man and woman have a different look to them. One woman is wearing a nose ring while another wears no makeup. One man is bare face, but another man has his glasses still on. One common element in the photos is that all men and women are biting their lower lips. The men and women might be biting their lips at different angles, but the similarity between all the photos connections the photos together and show that it is a part of a series.
